The 75th Golden Globe awards ceremony, that took place in Los Angeles on January 7, was dominated by the industrywide movement by women to protest sexual harassment and pay inequity. Almost all the women stars wore black to the event as a mark of protest. According to the Platinum Guild International (PGI), however, the black outfits served as ideal backdrops for platinum jewellery.
According to the PGI, white diamond earrings, colourful sapphire and emerald gemstones, and vintage jewellery were popular choices for the red carpet. Women stars patronised leading red carpet jewellery brands such as Cartier, Tiffany & Co., Harry Winston, Lorraine Schwartz, Fred Leighton, and Martin Katz.
Among those who sported platinum jewellery were Nicole Kidman, wearing Fed Leighton creations; Eva Longoria, Debra Messing and Issa Rae wearing Lorraine Schwartz; Emilia Clarke, Kate Hudson, Viola Davis, Helen Mirren, Lily James and Clare Foy in Harry Winston; Gal Gadot, Natalie Portman and Margot Robbie wearing Tiffany & Co. creations; Saoirse Ronan in Cartier and Ashley Judd sporting Martin Katz creations.
