GIA India organised an outreach initiative targeting schoolchildren, in Delhi on May 3. The program allowed children to learn about gemstones through hands-on activities with minerals and gemstones. Content included distinguishing between natural and lab-grown gemstones and learning about enhancement treatments.
The GemKids programme, as it is known, was run for the students of Universal Public School in New Delhi, with students from 6th to 8th grade attending.
GIA India and Middle East Managing Director Nirupa Bhatt said, “Kids learn from what they see and observe. GIA India believes the GemKids programme is a great step towards igniting a passion in children for gemmology. We were thrilled to see a great response from the students and grateful to Universal Public School for their support.”
