Despite the ongoing turmoil in Hong Kong, which has had many diamond and jewellery industry stakeholders wondering whether the scheduled trade fair could be held successfully, ALROSA announced that it will hold its annual True Colors auction of natural coloured diamonds there in September.
ALROSA said customers will have the opportunity to view the diamonds at the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair between September 16 and 20. The auction will last until September 23.
The True Colors collection consists of more than 200 polished diamonds of fancy colours in various shapes. Most of them have been GIA certified. The collection includes an 18.07-carat, IF, pear-cut intense yellow, a 6.78-carat, emerald-cut vivid yellow as well as a pair of pear-cut Vivid Purplish Pinks (0.54-carat, VVS1 and 0.55-carat, IF).
The miner said that with an in-house cutting division and closed production cycle, it is able to guarantee the provenance of each diamond. All the diamonds are accompanied by an extended digital 'passport', which contains information about the date and place of mining, characteristics, and even information about the cutter and his or her professional experience. To extend this provenance guarantee to the retail customer, a customised video is also available.
The first True Colors auction took place in 2018, and ALROSA successfully sold 210 natural coloured diamonds. As of 2018, ALROSA said its polishing division, Diamonds ALROSA, is focussed on polishing large, unique colourless and coloured diamonds. The company said it aims to become a leader of natural colour diamonds market.
