Russian diamond miner ALROSA announced that it had sold $3.7 billion in rough and polished diamonds over the first ten months of this year. Rough diamond sales over the period are valued at $3.6 billion, while polished sales totted up $79 million.
Combine rough and polished sales in October realised $337.6 million, with rough accounting for $326.7 million, while polished sales totalled $10.9 million.
ALROSA Vice President Yury Okoemov observed that sales in October grew over the September figures, stimulated by a further growth in the demand for small diamonds. However, sales in October 2016 realised more in monetary terms due to the higher volumes of sale from ALROSA’s inventories.
